Do you know from the 1st of October 2017, the minimum sum assured required for an FDW’s Personal Accident Insurance will be from $40,000 to $60,000?
The purchase of FDW’s Medical Insurance and Personal Accident Insurance is mandatory as it may be required to cover the expenses of any unforeseen incidents to the helper resulting in permanent disability or death. It is always advisable to get a good Insurance coverage to assist with the cost of the medical treatment in Singapore as it may not be cheap and can cause huge financial burden to the employer.
Please also ensure that sufficient time is given to the employment agency and the insurance company to facilitate the process of linking the Insurance bond with the relevant government authorities.
It is required by the Singapore authorities for employers of FDWs to purchase the medical insurance and personal accident insurance before their helpers arrive in Singapore and if the Insurance bond is not linked by the time the helper arrives in Singapore, the Singapore Immigration will refuse the helper entry to Singapore and repatriate the helper back on the next earliest fight available. This will not only cause unnecessary inconvenience to the helper but also all parties involved.
